Open Letter to Rush Limbaugh:
Dear Rush,
You have argued for years that a third party candidate will not win and a third party will not work. You have also argued for years that we are not in a dooms day prophecy time but that history repeats itself. Let us look at both of those arguments together:
1. The third party has worked before in 1854.
2. Why can’t history do it again? It can.
Here are some of the conditions that made it work in 1854:
1. The nation was in a very divisive state over hot political issues of slavery and western expansionism.
2. The nation’s population was at a peak of political awareness.
3. One party was very pro slavery (democrats) and the other was full of appeasers or moderates (Whigs).
4. It was not a presidential election year.
5. The third or new party was based on moral principles not politics.
6. There was much unrest in both major political parties and Senators and Congressman were switching parties.
7. The new party won enough seats in the house and senate from 1854 to 1858 that anti slave Whigs and Democrats were absorbed into the new party.
8. By 1860 they found the right man, a Washington outsider of simple background and means, to run for president – Abraham Lincoln.
The time is right and the nation is ripe for a New Party again:
1. The nation is in a very divisive state over the freedoms of the constitution and the government control of socialism.
2. The nation’s population is a peak of political awareness as proven by the Tea Parties and the 9/12 project as well as the growth of your show, Glenn Beck’s and others.
3. One party is at odds with the will of people and very pro socialism and the other has no backbone and is full of moderates.
4. It is not a presidential election year. i.e. NY-23, and 2010 mid terms.
5. The new “Conservative” party would be based on values, and principles and not politics.
6. There is major unrest in Washington and in both major political parties.
7. If we the conservative can win in NY-23 and we can maintain the fervor of the Tea Parties and the 9/12 project till the election of 2010 the conservative can take control of what use to be the Republican Party.
8. The key for 2010 and 2012 is find good and honorable men and women who are Washington outsiders to run for office and lead.
There is no reason this can’t be a repeat of the late 1850’s, but Rush it needs your support. It is time cut ties with the Republican Party. They must embrace us not the other way around. The Conservative movement has momentum and it must be maintained and not let anything stop it. We are in a new Civil War of WORDS and the Nation’s future success will be determined by the outcome. Conservatism must win for the Nation to win and be saved.
The only question I have now is: Who will be our Lincoln? As much as I like these guys, Romney or Huckabee are not Lincoln. We must find him or her soon. Rush please support this approach, it needs you.
